So. What do you want to know?...

Hey there! I'm Sue. I didn't fancy changing my name to Stu for studio.art so I switched it up to a feminine version to promote myself under the pseudonym suedio. So I founded suedio.art.

At the mo I'm bit of a 'snow-bird'. I use the term loosely. You will find me either in Ontario, Canada or my origin of London, UK.

If you’ve already snooped around the site you’ll see I’m a bit of magpie. I'm pretty much self-taught and I have a passion for capturing reflections on shiny surfaces and an undeniable love for chrome. There’s something about the way light dances on polished surfaces that excites my imagination.

New inspiration

Canada’s playground became my muse. This year I ticked off one for my Bucket List: a road-trip from the East of Canada to the West-Coast (oh, and back). Many a diverse sight was seen including the rhythmic energy of First Nations Pow Wows to the Greatest Show on Earth: the Calgary Stampede. Along the way we went in search of Bigfoot (sadly to no avail), experienced the awe of the Canadian Rockies and lost count of the number of trees along the route. I still believe moose are the Canadian version of unicorns and we only got a glimpse of one black bear as we flew by at 70kph. I had great close encounters with elk and buffalo though!

From serene lakes to the bustling city streets—every scene along the way told a story waiting to be captured on canvas. Both Canada and the UK, with their rich blend of tradition and modernity, influence my work in powerful ways.

My journey continues to evolve and is always a Work in Progress.

"My autobiography, much like my art, is an ongoing narrative. Each painting holds a memory, and as I look forward, I’m excited for the stories yet to be told, the reflections and colours waiting to be explored and the endless possibilities that come with being an artist."

The Jackson's Art Prize 2025 received 12,964 entries from 129 countries and the Extended Long List of 3,168 works was announced on 14 March 2025. I am thrilled my painting made it into the top 25%. Being recognised in such a prestigious international competition is an incredible honour and I’m grateful for the opportunity to have my work considered alongside so many talented artists.

No cigar…

Sadly I didn’t make it through to the Shortlist but there’s always other opportunities and maybe I’ll have better success next year! Good luck to the Finalists; I’m intrigued to see this year’s winning masterpiece.
